Faculty of Life

Introduction to faculty

The Faculty of Life incorporates Business studies, Geography, Health and Social Care, History, PE, PSE, RE, and Welsh Baccalaureate. Together we support our pupils to become healthy, curious, informed, ethical and caring individuals who support others and are equipped to make positive choices throughout their lives.

This year, a few of our highlights include : four successful sports days, successful participation in netball, rugby and football fixtures, year 9 entered the National First Give competition, successfully gained phase four of the Healthy Schools initiative and achieved a significant number of silver and bronze awards for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

Lower School Overview

From Nursery to Year 3, pupils are taught the above range of subjects through different approaches and experiences within their three termly themes. There is a focus on skills coverage and this is adopted to make pupils' learning more personal, meaningful and ultimately enjoyable and stimulating.

Middle School Overview

Throughout the middle school pupils work on humanities lessons through a cross-curricular approach around a theme. Themes can look at ‘Warriors’, ‘How our life has changed through the decades’ to ‘What is our contribution to our world’.  Lessons contain a mix of subjects and a variety or methods of teaching in order to enthuse pupils in each topic area.

Upper School Overview

During year 9, pupils experience the range of subjects outlined above on a carousel of activities. During year 10 and 11, all pupils follow the Welsh Baccalaureate qualification and undertake core PE lessons. Pupils can opt to study GCSE’s or BTEC’s in Business Studies, Geography, Health and Social Care, History, PE, RE and Sport .
