Common Childhood Illnesses

There are a variety of illnesses and infections that can affect children and young people during childhood and adolescence. To reduce this risk, it is important to maintain effective personal hygiene (including hand washing), and to ensure your child’s vaccinations are up to date. 

As well as ensuring your child is looked after and treated effectively, on occasion it may be necessary to keep your child off school to prevent the spread of infection but the GP will inform you if this is necessary.

Outlined below is information on common childhood illnesses however if you are concerned about your child, we strongly advise that you seek medical advice (GP, Nurse, Pharmacist or NHS Direct).

If your child is absent form school due to illness, please notify the school immediately or contact us if you are unsure about anything.
