Headteacher's Welcome

This half term has flown by!
It has been a joy and privilege to welcome all of our new pupils and staff, and watch them develop and grow over the last eight weeks.  The joining of five schools has been embraced by our pupils and staff and I am incredibly proud of them.  Our parents and wider stakeholders have also embraced this with such positivity and openness.
We, as a new school, have made great strides this term and I am confident that we will continue to grow and develop at pace as we move towards Christmas.  We welcome all feedback and suggestions to continue to improve and refine all aspects of school life.  We have set out high expectations for all of our pupils and this half term we have celebrated excellent sporting achievement, academic success, the appointment of the Pupil Leadership Team and many other achievements.  One of the greatest celebrations should be attributed to all of our pupils who have embraced their new school and our new ethos with pride and dedication.  Watching our younger pupils experience languages and science lessons and our older pupils acting as strong, positive role models and working hard to meet their new subject targets is just the start of our exciting journey.
Thank you to parents who bring their children to school each day for their patience and particularly with the initial complications on the Gwyn site.  Working together has made a real difference.
Next term we will see a range of activities including :
- Parental coffee mornings / Q&A sessions
- Welcoming international visitors from Portugal
- Interim reports to parents
- Trips and visits
- Remembrance Sunday events
- International PISA involvement
- Concert rehearsals
- Buddy mentoring scheme launched
- A growing extra-curricular programme.
Parentmail is now up and running and we will share all important information via this, as well as continue to share events and celebrations via the school Facebook page.
If you  wish to contact the school, please initially speak with your class teacher or make contact with the relevant Raising Standards Leader via the school switchboard or their email address:

With darker nights closing in, the importance of safe travel (including walking) to and from school is important.  We have previously issued guidance on safe routes and behaviours and together we will continue to encourage pupils to act safely and sensibly walking to and from school, and while using public and service transport.  If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Good attendance is a vital component of pupil achievement and we have set all pupils the target of achieving 95% for this year.  We welcome your support and encouragement with this.
I am confident that together, as a team, our pupils, our parents, our staff and wider stakeholders , we will go from strength to strength next half term.
Have a safe and restful half term.
Very best wishes
Kirsty Retalick
